A Godly Mistake

A friend sent me an email a while ago. Her salutation was intended to read, "Good Morning, Glynis!" Instead she omitted an 'o.'

"God Morning, Glynis!" she wrote. Before long another message from my friend popped into my inbox. She was following up her original note with a profuse apology. How foolish she felt misspelling "good."

I immediately replied and told her how much I appreciated her encouraging words and how her misspelling actually had blessed me mightily. It had been a tough morning and matters weighed heavy on my mind. Her "God Morning" greeting reminded me how to begin my day and about the importance of beginning it with a 'Godly' perspective.

Life is about attitude and perspective. The older I get, the more I understand that God has given me a measure of control, dubbed freewill. I can roll out of bed in the morning and grumble about the weather, the news and the amount of work I have to do in so little time. I can face the day with a scowl on my face because I am so hard done to. Or I can kick off the sheets, make God my first thought and decide that with Him I can do all things. I can turn my frown upside down and set the mood for the day.

No one said life would be easy. But God did say that He loves me and that He will never leave me or forsake me. He also sent Jesus because He knew life was no bed of roses. Jesus has a way of turning stress into rest and sorrow into joy. All I need do to experience that rest and joy, is to keep my eyes on Him and choose to find blessings in all aspects of my life.

I'm thinking that today is going to be a good, good day. I have after all started out with some kind of wonderful God morning. Can there be anything better?

I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Phillipians 4:13

Glynis...I loved your article and your picture too. Free will...yes it certainly puts the onus on us to have a measure of control over how we view life. Frowns can easily become smiles with the right attitude. It really is up to us. :)

Amen, Delores! Thanks for your kind words and yes, we do have to do our part to make this a better world. Journey on, sister! :)

Thank you for this practical and positive focus,Glynis.
It is a true 'Glynisian glimpse'for sure, and reflects what your friends have come to appreciate about the gift you are to them, because of Jesus.
And yes, great photo -- and we get to see (presumably) grandpa and the little one, too!

Hi Glynis,
I'm reading this in Romani on the evening of April 20th, two days after our team was supposed to be home. Somehow it is just what I needed tonight. The news is a constant mix of promise and disappointment as we anticipate returning to home and loved ones. But God is still in control and keeping that in mind, there is still much to rejoice in.
