Thank you for so beautifully sharing your thoughts on this topic! This piece brings me back to the days I shared a table with Jewish believers every Friday night. I developed a deep appreciation for the spiritual symbolism of the Shabbat meal, complete with traditions and liturgy explicitly rooted in Jesus Christ. I'm slowly realizing how much I miss the symbolism and reliability of that protected time of worship and fellowship.Marie Friesenhttp://mariefriesen.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6213977381458736343.post-33509983272936812452014-02-21T09:36:10.013-05:002014-02-21T09:36:10.013-05:00A wonderful piece of writing. As you mentioned, there has been a significant shift in some Christians (especially disillusioned younger people) moving back to a more liturgical approach to worship. Certainly, God instituted a lot of symbols when he gave the law to the israelites. The pendulum seems to continue to swing, but in the end, balance is the key. The "symbolic hedge"...Thank you Carolyn. <br />The "symbolic hedge" term is new to me, but I do get it. You've beautifully articulated -- infinitely better than I -- thoughts I've had and shared for some years regarding the value and appropriate use of symbols concerning our faith. ~~+~~Peter Blackhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15529992196266271463noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6213977381458736343.post-37993860071151148672014-02-19T15:35:33.918-05:002014-02-19T15:35:33.918-05:00Thanks, Glynis.
